THE STONECELL PROCESS
Quarried natural stone blocks begin the StoneCell process. First, the blocks are “sliced” into slabs of material, in much the same manner as a whole loaf of bread becomes the proverbial “sliced bread.” The slabs are squared up and placed between two similarly sized panels of aviation-grade aluminum honeycomb. Now, all three elements are bonded together using state-of-the-art epoxies.
At this point, imagine two aluminum honeycomb panels sandwiched around the stone panel. That entire assembly is cut to create two virtually identical, but thinner, panels. The resultant stone faces are finished to achieve the desired texture, such as polished, honed or textured.
